Separation Anxiety And Too Much Barking

Angst

3 year old, male, German Spitz (similar to Pomeranian).

I've had my dog since he was two months old, he's three years old now. Six months ago before moving to Germany he was ok with being alone. Now, he refuses to be alone and barks, cries, and tries to escape. I take him everywhere with me because of this problem.

Also, he barks too much. Any time someone talks to me, he barks. Any time he sees another dog, he barks. When he see small children, he barks. He has been socialized with other dogs, but he doesn't like to play with them and he barks when he sees them. He's behaves like a coward when another dog approaches him. A few years ago he was attacked by bigger dogs.

I need help correcting these problems before it is too late.

Hi,
if you take your dog with you everywhere, he isn't able to learn being alone.
Train it with him while leaving the room, close the door, immediately return, cross the room, leave it again, close the door.... and so on about 10 Minutes, always when you are at home. Don`t pay attention for the dog, just leave and return until he ist bored with this game and able to relax. When you notice, that he ist relaxed, increase the time outside.
When you have to leave the dog alone, don`t say Good bye when you go and ignore him, when you com home.
Don`t pay him attention, when he is barking. Ignore it. Stroke him, talk to him, feed him, play with him when he is NOT barking. He has learned, that he's always get your attention when he is barking and he trains you with it.

I wish you success
