Our dog is barking when we leave

Hi Everyone! We have a 5yo Cavalier King Charles at home who was abandoned when we took him 2017. He is so much attached to us (and we are to him!). However; when we leave our apartment and he needs to stay at home, he is barking a lot and our neighbours are not very happy about it. We recently moved to Frankfurt and we need help. Please let me know your thoughts on this!

Hi, your are attached to your dog, but too much. He isn't used to be allone. Normally this is trained with a puppy, but you got him later. What did you do untill now to use him on staying allone?
Now it lasts very long. You have to train him to stay allone for seconds, than minutes and this over weeks. Can you provide this without any
breaks? If you go too early and to long he'll bark again and you have to start the training from the start. Perhaps you can use christmas time for the training? One week at the least. It would help me for a better advivce and a plan for the training to hear what you have done to use him on staying allone,
